Dr. Subrahmanyam VangalaAdvisor

Dr. Subrahmanyam Vangala (“Mani”) is a globally experienced pharmaceutical scientist, translational toxicologist, and biotech entrepreneur with over three decades of leadership across preclinical drug development, translational sciences, and regulatory strategy. He has held senior leadership positions at global pharmaceutical organizations including American Cyanamid/Wyeth (now Pfizer), Purdue Pharma, and Johnson & Johnson in the United States, before returning to India to establish advanced preclinical research and development capabilities at Sai Advantium Pharma (now Sai Life Sciences) and Advinus Pharmaceuticals (now Eurofins Advinus). Over the course of his career, he has contributed to more than 100 IND programs, several of which have progressed into globally marketed therapies.

Widely recognized for his expertise in drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics, and translational safety sciences, Dr. Vangala has played a critical role in advancing therapeutic programs across oncology, metabolic disorders, infectious diseases, and pain management. His contributions include work on therapies such as canagliflozin, ivosidenib, enasidenib, advanced glycylcycline antibiotics, and BuTrans transdermal systems. During his tenure at Johnson & Johnson, he pioneered early “Body-on-a-Chip” translational microfluidic platforms, earning the company’s Excellence in Science Award for innovation.

In 2017, Dr. Vangala co-founded Reagene Biosciences, where he leads the development of advanced “Human Disease-in-a-Dish” translational models aimed at improving human predictability in drug development and reducing clinical attrition through next-generation non-animal research platforms. He earned his PhD from Memorial University, Canada, and has conducted advanced research at the University of Colorado Boulder and the University of California, Berkeley. His scientific and entrepreneurial contributions have earned multiple recognitions, including the Promising Entrepreneur of India Award, the Mahatma Gandhi Peace Prize, and recognition as a “Legend of Biotech.”
